Hanny el Zeini is the custodian of Omm Sety's rich legacy. He was her closest confidant and companion in adventure during the 25 years that she lived at Abydos, in the shadow of her beloved Sety Temple.
Dr. el Zeini is the retired Director-General of the Egyptian Sugar Company, one of the largest such industries in the world. Although educated as a chemist, he was always a keen student of literature, languages and the long stream of human history. His love of Egypt runs deep, as does his knowledge of its archaeological sites. Over the years, he has acted as consultant-advisor for a number of archaeological projects, which at different times involved diving in the Red Sea for ancient ships and trekking into the great deserts of Egypt, tracing the origins of the Egyptian people. Dr. el Zeini lives with his wife, Gowhara, in the Cairo suburb of Maadi, where he devotes himself to investigating and writing about the unsolved chapters of Egyptian history. and wisdom of the ancient world. Catherine was co-producer
of the exhibit, Continuum: the Immortality Principle, and historian for
The Alexandria Project, a search for the tomb of Alexander the
Great and the lost Alexandrian Library. She is currently developing
an exhibit that explores the human capacity for compassion.
Catherine is a member of the American Research Center
